Adobe To Acquire Macromedia

This is a pretty interesting development. Adobe have acquired Macromedia in a deal valued at around $3.4 billion. This will basically leave Adobe as THE graphics and web development powerhouse, combining technologies such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Acrobat with Flash, Director, Dreamweaver and ColdFusion. Hopefully this wont mean a lapse in innovation and pricing from competition.

Interesting. Adobe's other products don't seem to be competing for the same product space as flash. Does macromedia have anything else that's nearly as useful?
