Organized Chaos

Now this is a LAN Party. Held in the Easter Holiday in Norway, The Gathering is a collection of 5,200 gamers, demo makers and computer fanatics (incidently With 93% of the 5,200 participants were male) who pack themselves into a building called The Vikingship, which was originally built to host the 94' Olympics. With no limitations on what you can bring in (usually there are bans on things like speakers) and at about $100 per 2.5 sqr ft some attendants even seem to take bring along the IKEA nesting principal. Competitions aren't just limited to PC gaming and included things such as the DDR European Cup, Case Modding Competitions, Demo Creations, a ASUS 'Hennah Tattoo' competition for the best tattoo advertising ASUS hardware. The Gathering even offers lectures by groups such as Microsoft and the EFF and on topics such as demo programming, 3d Animation and mod creation. Hate to see their power bill.
