The Powerhouse museum in Sydney, Australia, held a competition between SMS and morse code. On the SMS side were children and teenagers armed with their mobiles, predictive text and mobile shorthand. Standing up for morse was Gordon Hill, a 92 year old telegraph operator. They were asked to send the message "Hey, girlfriend, you can text all your best pals to tell them where you are going and what you are wearing." In 90 seconds Gordon had sent his message, whilst 18 seconds later one of the kids had managed to send “hey gf u can txt ur best pals 2 tel them wot u r doing, where ur going and wot u r wearing.”
