Z Lab created a video series between 1996 and 1998 called "2 minutes of experimentation and entertainment." One of the stories is the "Cybernetic Parrot Sausage". In this project, a German sausage is combined with the internals of a talking parrot toy to create a sausage who repeats whatever you say to it, twice, and who's end spins at 300 rpm.
Due to the biodegradable nature of its body, this robot has a short lifespan.
Intel will be including on-board DRM (Digital Rights Management) into its next line of Pentium D and 945 chips. This was kept quiet at the Australian launch of the new processors but has since been confirmed. The chips will support a Microsoft flavoured DRM and makes it one step closer to the entertainment industry controlling copyright through the hardware.

Masahide Kaneko and colleagues at the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, has created a system designed to eliminate the annoying blink camera shots. The system works be taking a rapid fire 15 frames in the half second after the shutter is pressed, and then software analyses the photos and selects the best one. The developers say that it can even handle shots of 30 people, with the system selecting the shot with the least blinkers.

J. Meejin Yoon, a professor of architecture at MIT has created the 'Self-Defense Dress'. Inspired by the porcupine, it has spines that extend when someone steps too close and triggers a proximity sensor.
